Born in North Carolina and immediately brought to New York.
Devin's path was always to be a performer.

With a voice that has been compared to that of James Earl Jones, Keith David, Paul Robeson, Lou Rawls, Isaac Hayes and Barry White, Devin Richards has progressively made his own name over the years. He has been performing over the past 20 years as a Jazz/Soul Singer, Voiceover artist, and Broadway performer. Having spread the love around Devin has become known for his rich and versatile bass-baritone voice which he has shared in various jazz clubs such as Birdland, on concert stages including Carnegie Hall, in recording studios and on the Broadway stage where he now performs in his 11th Broadway show, Finian's Rainbow. Devin has also made his presence known nationally and internationally having performed in Germany, France, England and Canada.

Devin has performed in some capacity since a very early age. He sang publically with his locally well known uncle, Jimmy Person, from the age of 8. As a child he played the piano, electric guitar and saxophone for which through high school he achieved high honors as one of the tops in North Carolina. Although his beloved music teacher encouraged him to pursue a career in instrumental music, he left the instrumental music to move into theatre where he acted, sang and danced on up through college. From there after a short stint in Florida he took off to Europe to perform and to become "cultured" having learned German and French and about wine, one of his passions. Then after a few years, back to New York to begin his now 17 year career on Broadway.

Devin's live CD entitled MY OWN VOICE: Live at the Metropolitan Room was released in November 2009 to great acclaim. He has a melodic, resonant voice that is clearly influenced by the likes of Joe Williams, Billy Eckstine, Lou Rawls along with Isaac Hayes and Barry White." I grew up singing jazz, soul, and gospel before having any formal training. Being a bass-baritone I never could sing with the radio. And because of the lack of contemporary music for lower voices in my generation I always had to find my own way. The first song, My Own Voice, which I wrote with my incredible music director Dan Furman, explains it all, I have spent so many years on the Broadway stage, in commercial studios, in concerts adjusting my voice to the style in which I was "hired" to sing. In the song, My Own Voice and on a lot of the CD, I get a chance to sing the way I naturally sing and to express myself using my own interpretations. And I Love It!"

In the Voiceover world Devin has been the radio personality for the Sirius pure jazz station, he has lent his voice to many radio shows including the Ed Lover Radio show (Power 105.1 FM NY), he has done commercials for Mountain Dew, Wendys, Verizon, Africa24 (in english and french), Celebrex, Chase Bank, and Bank of America. However, he is currently best known as the voice of Dwayne Forge on the popular video game, Grand Theft Auto IV.

Broadway has been his bread and butter throughout the years having performed in such shows as The Life, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Carousel, Victor/Victoria, Wonderful Town, Pajama Game, Seussical the Musical, 110 in the Shade, Jesus Christ Superstar and now Finian's Rainbow.

Devin has performed with a plethora of stars which include Harry Connick Jr., Lou Rawls, Gladys Knight, Rick Springfield, Rosie O'Donnell, Rosie O'Donnell, Gloria Gaynor, Lesley Gore ("It's My Party"), Joan Jett, Pam Tillis, and Tony Orlando.

Along with all of that Devin found time for a few tv stints including Law & Order, The Jamie Kennedy Show, Another World and most popular that of "Black Frasier" on the Emmy Award Winning 30 Rock.

Clearly for him, performing is LIVING.

Live it Love It and Live It With LOVE!
